Fertility Testing in Hyderabad
The first step to answers — not assumptions.
Comprehensive fertility evaluation for both partners. Clear results, honest interpretation, and a personalized path forward. With Dr. Parinaaz Parhar, 16+ years of experience diagnosing what others miss.
Why Testing Comes First
The most important question I can answer for you is not what treatment do you need — it is WHY have you not conceived yet?
Many couples come to me having already been told to just do IVF. But IVF is not always the answer. Sometimes the solution is much simpler — a hormonal imbalance that needs medication, an infection that needs antibiotics, a timing issue that needs monitoring. Other times, it IS IVF — but even then, knowing exactly what is causing the difficulty helps me design a protocol specifically for YOUR situation, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
I have built my practice on diagnostic thoroughness. Before I recommend any treatment, I want to understand your complete fertility picture. That is why testing is not just the first step — it is the most important step. And I promise you this: I will only recommend the tests that are necessary for YOUR situation. No unnecessary panels, no expensive tests just in case. Every test I order has a specific clinical reason.

Understanding Your Fertility Tests
Here is what fertility testing actually involves — explained in plain language, not medical jargon.
For Her — Female Fertility Tests
AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) Blood Test
Measures your ovarian reserve — how many eggs you have remaining. One of the most important fertility markers. Simple blood test, results in 24-48 hours. Low AMH does not mean you cannot conceive — it helps us choose the right approach.
Hormonal Panel (FSH, LH, Estradiol, Prolactin, TSH)
Checks for hormonal imbalances that may be preventing ovulation or affecting egg quality. Blood tests done on Day 2-3 of your period. Results in 24-48 hours. Many hormonal issues are easily treatable with medication.
Transvaginal Ultrasound (Antral Follicle Count)
Shows your ovaries, uterus, and the number of developing follicles. Combined with AMH, gives a complete picture of your ovarian reserve. Non-invasive, takes 10-15 minutes. Also checks for fibroids, polyps, ovarian cysts.
HSG (Hysterosalpingography) — Tubal Patency Test
Checks if your fallopian tubes are open. Blocked tubes prevent eggs from reaching the uterus. Mild discomfort similar to period cramps, takes 15-20 minutes. Done between Day 7-10 of your cycle. Results available immediately.
Additional Tests (If Indicated)
For Him — Male Fertility Tests
Semen Analysis
Evaluates sperm count, motility (movement), morphology (shape), and volume. Male factor contributes to 40-50% of fertility cases — testing BOTH partners is essential. Private collection, results in 24-48 hours. Abstain for 2-5 days before the test. Completely confidential.
Hormonal Tests (If Indicated)
If semen analysis shows abnormalities, hormonal tests may help identify the cause — Testosterone, FSH, LH, Prolactin. Simple blood test. Many male hormonal issues are treatable.
Privacy Note
Male fertility testing is completely private and confidential. Your results are shared only with you and Dr. Parinaaz. Many couples feel more comfortable doing both partner tests together — and that is exactly what we recommend.

What if I Want to Test Before Trying?
You do not need to be trying and failing to get tested. Many women — especially those over 30 — choose proactive fertility assessment to understand their current status. This is smart planning, not overreacting.
A basic fertility check (AMH + ultrasound + hormonal panel) takes one appointment and gives you valuable baseline information about your reproductive health.

Fertility Testing Questions — Answered
A basic fertility assessment for both partners typically costs Rs. 5,500 to Rs. 10,000 including consultation, blood tests, ultrasound, and semen analysis. Additional tests like HSG (tubal test) are Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000 if needed. Dr. Parinaaz only recommends tests that are clinically necessary for your specific situation — no unnecessary expenses.
Most fertility tests are completely painless — blood tests and ultrasound are routine. The HSG (tubal test) can cause mild discomfort similar to period cramps, lasting about 15-20 minutes. Semen analysis is non-invasive and private. Overall, fertility testing is far less uncomfortable than most patients expect.
Most blood test results are available within 24-48 hours. Ultrasound results are discussed immediately during your appointment. HSG results are available the same day. A complete fertility assessment with all results and interpretation can typically be completed within 1-2 visits over a week.
Yes, testing both partners is essential. Male factor contributes to 40-50% of all fertility cases. Testing only one partner risks missing half the picture. However, if your partner is initially reluctant, we can start with the female evaluation and discuss male testing during the consultation.
Absolutely. Proactive fertility assessment is increasingly common, especially for women over 30. A basic check (AMH, hormonal panel, ultrasound) gives you valuable baseline information about your reproductive health and helps you plan for the future.
AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) is a blood test that indicates your ovarian reserve — essentially, how many eggs you have remaining. It is one of the most important fertility markers because it helps predict your response to fertility treatments and guides treatment decisions. A low AMH does not mean you cannot conceive — it means we need to choose the right approach.
Your gynecologist can order basic blood tests and ultrasound. However, a fertility specialist like Dr. Parinaaz provides specialized interpretation of results, additional tests that a general gynecologist may not consider (like antral follicle count), and most importantly — a treatment plan based on the complete picture.
This is called unexplained infertility and occurs in about 15-20% of cases. It does not mean there is nothing we can do — it means standard tests have not identified the cause. Dr. Parinaaz’s thorough diagnostic approach often uncovers subtle factors that standard testing misses. And even with unexplained infertility, treatments like IUI and IVF have good success rates.
It is a completely private process. You will have a private room, and your results are confidential — shared only with you and your treating doctor. Male fertility testing is a routine medical evaluation, just like any blood test. Many couples find that testing together reduces the awkwardness and shows mutual commitment to the process.
If testing reveals a treatable issue, treatment can often begin within the same cycle or the next cycle — depending on the diagnosis. Simple treatments like ovulation induction or IUI can start almost immediately. Even IVF can begin within 1-2 cycles of completing testing. There is no long waiting period between diagnosis and treatment.
